What the heck is gebesucht?

My use of the word gebesucht started in my high school german classes as a result of my amusement with mutilating words and their pronunciations (ie pronouncing "knife" as ka-nii-fee). Don't ask me why I do it, I think it has something to do with my love of puns. The word gebesucht was my combination of the verb besucht, which is the past tense of the verb besuchen (defined "to visit"), and the common practice in the german language of making a verb past tense by adding "ge" to the front.

However, besucht is already the past tense of besuchen, so I believed by adding the "ge" prefix I was just mutilating a word as a joke with my friends. However upon further searching I have found various uses of the word, whether correct or incorrect I am not sure. Altavista's babelfish translator defines the word as "give-searched", whatever that may mean.

The end result of all this is that I wanted a domain name, and this word popped into my head, so since my site is a collection of random thoughts and other amusements of mine, I thought the domain name would be quite appropriate. Therefore, welcome to gebesucht.

Who am I?

My name is Ricke Stauffer. I live in Dexter, Michigan. I went to school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (Dexter is right near Ann Arbor), where I studied Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering. I currently work for CFI Group doing software engineering.

This page exists because I wanted an excuse to write PHP code, to show off my complete lack of design skills, and to rant, rave, link, post and otherwise display things that interest me. I have had a homepage since right around the time Netscape 1.0 was released and I realized how much cooler the internet was with a browser other than Lynx. That homepage existed in one of its variations on Geocities for a long time, but sadly I think I let it sit too long and it has since disappeared, as can been seen by the fact that the above link goes nowhere. I used to keep that one as my more personal home page, and just because I could never stand to delete it. :-) This page is hosted on one of my Linux computers, Superman. It is hosted along with 16 other domains and subdomains which I do not plan on listing in this part of the page. Maybe I will devote a box to them somewhere.

As a random aside, don't buy Armada AR6 skis. They'll fall apart in no time, and Armada won't cover it under their warranty.
